Jaime Hunt Preschool/Kindergarten Teacher Elementary Principal Hi, my name is Jaime Hunt, formerly Jaime Weldon. This is my 17th year of teaching. I attended Skeels Christian School from Kindergarten thru the twelfth grade. It was because of the Bible lessons I received at school and at home that I realized my need of a Savior. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at the young age of five. Because of the fine education I received from SCS, I was able to then attend college with the know how to succeed. I attended Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida for one year. This college is where our A Beka Program (curriculum) comes from. After finding out that my credit would not be recognized in the State of Michigan for a teaching certificate, I transferred to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While there I obtained a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a ZA endorsement in Early Childhood Education. I began teaching Preschool and Kindergarten in the fall of 1999, making this my seventeenth year at Skeels. I met my husband, Jason, on a blind date during my first year of teaching. Ten months, to the day, after meeting, Jason and I were married. A year later the Lord blessed us with our daughter Kasidee Rae. In April 2003, the Lord blessed our family again with the birth of our second daughter, Kailee Renee. In 2006, the Lord again blessed our home with the birth of our son, Kade Russell. I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit for me to serve here at Skeels Christian School. Teaching at this school has always been a dream of mine, so I guess dreams do come true. Mrs. Cindy Laur Third Grade Teacher  Hello! I’m Cindy Laur. I feel like I’ve returned to Skeels because my husband, Doug, taught science here for several years and my three children, Dave, Julie and Ben studied here, too, several year’s past. I am a Central Michigan University grad with a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in Detroit. I fell quite comfortable coming to 3rd grade because I taught 4th grade in Houghton Lake for 15 years. In that district, I also worked as an Intervention Educator for one year, helping children with reading difficulties. I also taught elementary music for six years. Previously, I was a 1st and 2nd grade teacher and middle school choir director for Midland Christian School. In our early years, my husband and I pastored three churches, giving me numerous opportunities to teach children from the Word of God through Sunday School, children’s church and various midweek programs. Now I’m grateful to be here, serving the Lord at Skeels. My mission is to lead children to love learning as a natural part of loving the Lord, and to help them prepare to serve God throughout their lives.
